Meet The Head Doll In Charge
My love for lip gloss started early, with a memorable incident when I was just three years old. During a trip to Claire’s with my mom, I managed to sneak a variety of lip gloss into my stroller. My mom was surprised to find them at home, as she hadn’t bought them. Despite occasional disapproval from my biological father, who thought lip gloss was too grown-up for me, I was drawn to its shine. This fascination became a small form of rebellion and self-expression, allowing me to embrace my individuality.
In middle school, I took an entrepreneurship class where my Eema (grandmother), and I brainstormed and launched KDiore Lotion. Although the venture didn’t go far and ended when the class did, it was a formative experience. The passion and dedication I poured into that project stayed with me, fueling my desire to start a business again. By 2020, I decided to focus on lip products, driven by my quest to find the perfect lip gloss.
The inspiration for my new venture is deeply rooted in my childhood and the influence of Bratz dolls. These dolls were among the first to have a big-lipped, dark skinned doll that wasn’t a joke or a stereotype. Seeing a doll that resembled me provided a sense of representation and empowerment that was rare in other toys. They helped me embrace my features and boosted my confidence. Coincidentally, my Eema is affectionately known as "Grandma Bunni," which made it a natural choice to name my business after not only her but after a confident persona that I aspired to resemble. This name perfectly combines my passion for making products with a tribute to the inspirational influence of my Eema (grandmother), seamlessly bringing together representation and personal inspiration into my brand.
